Music is an essential part of almost any film. My goal as a composer focuses
on serving the purpose or purposes of the film at hand, accentuating and enhancing
whatever may be taking place on screen.
Music for film should largely be seen, not heard.
Except on that rare occasion when music is the focus of a particular moment,
the music I strive to create integrates seamlessly with the visuals at hand,
drawing the audience deeper and deeper into a scene. It's very easy to pound
a viewer over the head with music, overemphasizing and eventually losing the
emotional content of the moment. My goal as a composer for film is to quietly
and subtely draw the audience in completely, allowing them to forget the music,
themselves, and focus completely on the moment before them on screen.
